1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 22–24 cm round cake tin or line it with baking paper for easy removal.
2. Prepare the Apples
Peel, core, and thinly slice (or dice) the apples. To prevent browning, toss them with a little lemon juice.
3. Make the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar with an electric mixer for 2–3 minutes, until pale and fluffy.
Add the melted butter (or oil) and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
4. Add Dry Ingredients
Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt, then gently fold them into the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, until smooth and homogeneous.
5. Assemble the Cake
Fold half the apples into the batter. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan, then arrange the remaining apple slices on top in a rosette pattern or press them slightly into the batter.
Sprinkle with brown sugar for a caramelized finish (optional).
