1. Prepare the Pan
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or 8-inch round pan.
Line bottom with parchment paper.
2. Cream Butter and Sugar
Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (~3 min).
Add eggs one at a time, beating well.
Mix in vanilla extract and orange zest.
3. Mix Dry Ingredients
Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
4. Combine Wet & Dry
Add dry mixture to butter mixture in three parts, alternating with orange juice and milk.
Start and end with dry ingredients. Mix gently until just combined.
5. Bake
Pour batter into pan and smooth the top.
Bake: 40–50 min for loaf, 30–40 min for round pan.
Cool in pan 10 min, then transfer to wire rack.
6. Make Glaze (Optional)
Whisk powdered sugar, orange juice, and zest until smooth and pourable.
Drizzle over cooled cake.
