Prepare the base:
Mix the crushed biscuits with the melted butter well.
Place the mixture in a loose-bottomed tart tin (24cm diameter) and press down to level out.
Refrigerate for 30 minutes to cool and set.

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk, sugar, and cornflour.

Pour the cream over the cooled biscuit base and spread evenly.
Return the tart to the refrigerator to cool completely and allow the cream to set.
Prepare the chocolate topping:
In a small saucepan, heat the whipping cream until it begins to boil.
Remove from the heat and add the chocolate pieces and butter (if using).
Leave for a minute, then stir well until the chocolate is melted and the sauce becomes smooth and glossy (ganache).
Pour the chocolate ganache over the set cream layer and spread gently.
Serving:
Return the tart to the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until the chocolate layer is set.
When serving, dust with a little powdered sugar or cocoa powder, if desired.
