Stainless steel cookware and utensils may become yellowed or darkened over time. While dish soap can help remove everyday grease, combining it with a few additional ingredients can improve cleaning performance.
To create a cleaning solution, combine dish soap, baking soda, white vinegar, and water in a large pot or container. Use enough water to fully submerge the items you wish to clean.
Add approximately 4–5 tablespoons of baking soda, half a bottle of white vinegar, and a small amount of dish soap to the water. Place the stained stainless steel items into the mixture and heat it until it reaches a gentle boil.
The heat helps loosen grease, stains, and residue, making them easier to remove without excessive scrubbing.
After boiling, turn off the heat and allow the items to continue soaking as the water cools slightly. Remove the utensils and gently scrub them with a sponge or dishcloth. Many stains should come off more easily after soaking.
